Recent Status: A rare and local species in Suffolk that also arrives as an immigrant.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying during summer and will visit light. The larvae feed on Quercus robur leaves from a protective web. Pupation occurs during autumn.

Identification: An easily identified black or dark brown moth with a prominent white forewing bar centrally on the moth. The bar narrows and fades as it reaches the costa. A dentate sub-terminal line can sometimes be seen.
