Recent Status: This is the most commonly recorded Nemapogon is Suffolk. The Morley comments also include N. ruricolella.

Life Style: The moth can be found from May to October and comes to light. The larvae feed on various fungi and occasionally in stored vegetable products.

Identification: This is the most commonly recorded species of Nemapogon but care should be taken to avoid missing similar species. Particular note should be made of the central dark mark on the costa which narrows slightly before becoming (or meeting) a narrow wider mark. If this is not evident then genitalia dissection can determine the species and avoid missing another species. The females are usually more heavily marked. More Info
