Recent Status: Widespread in Suffolk.

Life Style: Single brooded and found from April to June. Micropterix adults have jaws and feed on pollen. Their life cycles are not well known and it is often quoted that the larvae feed on tender growth of herbaceous plants. The moths are day flying.

Identification: M. aruncella have bronze golden heads and forewings. The female has the basal half of the costa purple. The male has the basal quarter of the costa purple and also has narrow silver white marks. These are a complete fascia at one half, a short pre-apical mark and a usually incomplete fascia close to the base. More Info
