Morley's Final Catalogue: A sylvan species, larvae said to live in dead wood. Taken only at Ipswich in 1900 (Pyett); Fritton in 1936 (Gd); and at Brandon (Wrn).

Recent Status: A rare species in Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying during May and June and coming to light. The larvae feed on lichen, algae and decaying wood. They hibernate.

Identification: There are two similar species of Crassa. C. tinctella has uniformly coloured palps, head, thorax and wings. C. unitella has an orange head and palps with darker wings and thorax. More Info
