Life Style: A double brooded species that can be found from April to September. It comes to light. The larvae feed on the moss Syntrichia ruralis on rooves from a silken tube beneath the moss. Hibernation does not occur. Pupation occurs in the larval habitation.

Identification: This species has a mix of brown, cream and black scales. These coalesce to patches of black alternating cream from the base centrally to the double opposing cream spots at three quarters mostly black beyond. The head and palps are also usually cream and a good indicator as to this species. Mainly black or specimens with cream being dominant can occur. Dissection can confirm identification. More Info
