Recent Status: Found in Suffolk but not common.

Life Style: A double brooded species found during April, May, July and August. The larvae mine leaves of Fagus. They pupate on the ground.

Identification: A bronze fuscous forewing becoming darker and purple tinged towards the tip especially beyond the silvery or golden irregular fascia. The thorax and collar are also dark but the head tuft and scape are light ochre. Genitalia dissection is required for identification. More Info
The mine is similar to that of S. tityrella but the ovum is laid on either side of the leaf and is not placed against the main vein in the angle with a side vein.
