Recent Status: An adventive species commonly associated with Pomegranate imports from Mediterranean countries. A single record for Suffolk to date.

Life Style: A pan-tropical species first described in 1962 that has also established in the Mediterranean area. It is multi-brooded and found throughout the year. The larvae are scavengers and found feeding, primarily externally, on many plants and particularly fruits. They pupate in a whitish cocoon.

Identification: The species is similar to Anatrachyntnis simplex (Walsinham, 1891) and A. rileyi (Walsingham, 1882) both of which are recorded in Europe but not yet in Great Britain.
