Life Style: The moth is double brooded, flying in April, May, June and August. The larvae mine leaves of Tilia. They pupate in a pale cocoon on the ground.

Identification: The moth is dark bronze brown with a golden sheen basally and purple at the tip. The head tuft is black and the collar and scape cream. The moth can be identified by breeding out from a mine or by genitalia dissection. More Info
The larvae create a long and contorted gallery from an ovum on the underside of a leaf. The earlier part of the mine is only on the underside of the leaf and therefore remains green or may darken. The frass line is central and is laid in arcs as the mine matures. More Info
