Recent Status: Widely distributed but not common.

Life Style: A double brooded species flying in April, May and August. The larvae mine leaves of Malus. They pupate in a light brown cocoon on the ground.

Identification: The moth is coarsely scaled brownish fuscous slightly darker towards the tip with a shining white fascia. The head tuft is ochreous and the scape and collar whitish. The moth can be identified by breeding out from a mine or by genitalia dissection. More Info
The larva creates a gallery that gradually increases in width from an ovum on the underside of the leaf. The frass line is narrow and central and may be broken as the mine widens. More Info
