Morley's Final Catalogue: Not listed. The Nepticulids were not extensively studied and only 21 are listed.

Recent Status: Recorded across Suffolk but not common.

Life Style: The moth is single brooded with an occasional second brood flying during April, May, August and September. The larvae mine leaves of Ulmus.

Identification: The moth is strikingly coloured. The basal section is bright coppery red with a purple sheen. The fascia is silver and is followed by the terminal section of deep purple fuscous with silver grey cilia. The head tuft is black. The collar and thorax are purplish fuscous. The scape and the tips of the antennae are white.

The larva creates a variable gallery from an ovum on the underside of a leaf. The frass is linear and central but may be diffuse and more widely distributed as the mine matures. The larvae exit on the underside. More Info
